Preschool Management and Staff

My name is Sherri and I am co-owner of Happy Kids. I hold a Master of Arts in Human Development with a specialization in Leadership in Education. We opened our first Happy Kids in 1984. We are very committed to the early childhood education field. Our goal is for your child to experience the joy of learning, while developing a positive self-image in a creative and warm environment, designed for that purpose!

Happy Kids offers quality early education for infants, preschool, and pre-kindergarten children. Our professional, qualified and well-trained staff has been serving the needs of our community since 1984. Our Directors at each site have a Site Supervisor Permit from California Teacher Credentialing program. We have a Parent Advisory Committee and encourage parents to be an active partner with us in meeting the needs of their child's early education.
We invite you to come in and visit our schools and meet the teachers, students, and parents that are part of our great team!

We feel it is important to be an active member in our community, especially in the Early Education Field. This is why I am an active member of many organizations locally and statewide. The following are some of the organizations that I am involved in and support as part of my commitment to quality Early Education and Care.
I was awarded the 2005 “Early Childhood Hall of Fame” from the El Dorado County Association for the Education of Young Children

I am past Chair and a current member of the El Dorado County Childcare and Development Planning Council (LPC). The mission of this organization is to serve as the focal point for the planning and development of accessible, affordable, quality child care and development programs for children and families in El Dorado County. I was on the LPC committee that spearheaded the local Compensation and Retention Encourages Stability (CARES) program. This program gives stipends to Early Childcare teachers who continue their education and receive their Child Development Permit from the California Department of Teacher Credentialing. I am very proud to say that almost all of Happy Kids teacher are in this program, which has helped to raise the professional level at Happy Kids even higher. As part of this program I have been trained to be a Professional Growth Advisor through the State Department of Education, in this capacity I mentor the participants in the process of receiving and upgrading their Child Development Permit.

I am a past Commissioner of the First 5 of El Dorado Children and Families Commission (formerly known as Prop 10). Their mission is "The people of El Dorado County will promote nurturing, stable, and loving family environments so that all children enter school physically and emotionally healthy, ready to learn and thrive." Also as part of First 5, I have served on many committee's such the School Readiness Steering Committee and the Coalition for High 5 for Quality.

I am certified through the State Department of Education and WestEd in the Program for Infant Toddler Caregivers (PITC). This program trained me in the most recent research in Brain Development and the development of infants and toddlers. I am qualified to provide training at childcare programs across the state. This has allowed me to ensure our infant toddler program is of the highest quality and has the most updated information and research on the best policies and practices to meet the needs of infants and toddlers. I am also an active member of many statewide child care associations, I have been chairs of many committees, and state President of Californians for Quality Early Learning, CQEL and am a member of California Child Development Administrators Association, CCDAA.
